National Special Investigations Bureau
The National Special Investigations Bureau (NSIB) is a federal agency under the Department of Homeland Security. It was originally formed to investigate unusual criminal cases outside the scope of local law enforcement. The Bureau has expanded its scope over the years. All government sanctioned mutants (with the exception of those on active military assignment) are supervised by the NSIB. There are 23 known high powered mutants active within the bureau, they are typically called up for a situation individually based on availability and how well their abilities match the situation. In rare cases small teams are dispatched for a difficult assignment.
The NSIB is also staffed by paramilitary agents that are more than capable of capturing (or terminating) all but the most powerful mutants. These agents use a variety of weapons and techniques ranging from mundane to obvious experimental technology beyond the current state of the art.
The NSIB is known for use of excessive force when apprehending mutants. both normal and mutant agents.
